Village of Chernevo
Population: 1275 people.
Tourist attractions, places of interest:
1. The church “Sveta Troica” (St. Trinity church) is one of the oldest churches in the region. It has a rich collection of old, authentic icons. The church was built in 1837. The place for the church was donated by Paraskev Atanasov Karachevov. Within the church, a small monastery school was opened, where a priest taught children in Greek language. The 150-year anniversary of the school was commemorated in 1986 and the 170 anniversary of the church was marked in 2006. The church and the school are the oldest in Varna region.
2. The land of the village is the habitat of the urumovo tulip (Tulipa urumoffii).
3. The following Bulgarian customs are celebrated in this region:
Velikdensko (Easter ) horo in the centre of the village, an Exhibition Competition of decorated Easter cakes which is called "kolache" or "kozunak" and bright colored Easter eggs, lazaruvane which takes place on St Lazar's Day or Lazarovden (the Saturday before Palm Sunday), Gergyovden (St George's Day- May 6), Celebrating the day of the village- 6 May, The Custom of Enyovden (Midsummer Day- 24 June) and Herb’s Holiday, the tradition called 'koleduvane' (Christmas Carol Singing).
